This encaustic began as a fairly conventional snow scene, white sky, blue and green pines, blue and lavender snowfield, but then my impulse to abstraction took over and the whole became more a representation of the visual sensation of standing out in a field as it is snowing, than it became a snow scene. White and pearlized powdered pigment begin at the top, then light blues, aqua, turquoise, teal, cerulean and cobalt blues, lavenders, cobalt purple and a touch of rose complete this swirling encaustic. Painted on cradled basswood panel that does not require framing, but can be framed in a canvas floater if desired.
