I've always been curious about people and I'm fascinated by the paradoxes of contemporary life. My work is influenced by the kind of world we live in today - the social, political and cultural climates that affect us. I like to show people who are strong yet vulnerable as they face uncertainty or threatening environments. I paint to express my concern about the kind of future that we are creating for our children. In my psychological portraits, I'm influenced by artists ranging from Goya and Rembrandt to Alice Neel. My favorite medium is acrylic because of its versatility. I also enjoy doing collages where multiple images often tell a story. My goal is to have the viewer probe beyond the surface and find a deeper meaning.
