Dave was raised in a small town near the Wasatch mountains of Utah and spent a great deal of time exploring and gaining a profound appreciation of nature. Since childhood, Dave has had a keen interest in all forms of art, and has enjoyed working in almost all mediums. He only recently started to market his pieces. His primary interest has always been the abstract. He has a passion for whimsy, color and the unusual. His specialty developed into a wet, mixed-media process using acrylic urethanes as a foundation with a variety of application techniques. He enjoys the spontaneity and experimentation the mediums offer. His successes are shared with the forces of nature and he loves the surprises and unique results achieved with the methods used. Each piece is a labor of love reflecting a current state of mind. The process continuously evolves. Dave specializes in original paintings and professional giclees. Some of his paintings are adapted as flat TV covers and other utilitarian uses. The technique uses bold imaginative mixed media colors and innovative movement to create a composition through trusting the forces of nature marbleizing colors and lines. Each piece begins with a passion for vibrant color combinations, bold shades, as well as warm calming hues. Working in concert with natural forces, these colors are manipulated into extended strings, swirls and curves and are sometimes followed with even more layers of color. In most cases the paint is activated in techniques that allow the colors to blend on the canvas. The process allows for colors and textures that can not be created with a palette knife or brush. An amazing creation of vibrancy is the result that brings energy to the painting and immediately empowers the piece. Each piece is a unique one of a kind that is impossible to reproduce even with photography. The gold, silver and copper colors, leafs and the crystal flecks used are not fully reproducible in a photo.
