Red Veils & Blue

The square encaustic painting has glass beads embedded in the wax, the beads seeming to fall through gossamer veils of red, light purple, aqua and pale blue. It's a mysterious image, one that seems to float and yet open and close as if falling while being teased open and closed by a breeze. The dominant colors of cobalt purple deep, violet, red, aqua, and light blue are highlighted by the turquoise and pearlized glass beads. It is unframed, which works in this case because the image carries to the very edge of the cradled hardboard panel (the slides are painted cobalt violet). It is made with encaustic paint, oil stick and glass.
